See the contributor's manual for the guidelines on name translations. The current method is to transliterate lore names if you can. For example, "Mehrunes Dagon" and transliterate perfectly as "Mehrunes Dagon." "Vivec" could transliterate to "Vivek." There are some exceptions in the dictionary already. For example, "Clavicus Vile" is translated as "Meyvaatlo" due to the number of C's in his name and because he has a Cyrodiilic-based name. "Hircine" is listed as "Drogsenir." This really shouldn't be thought of a name but a title that refers to Hircine. In the same way, Word Walls in the Dragonborn DLC refer to Hermaeus Mora as "Fahluaan do Jul," "The Gardener of Man," without requiring a specific name translation for him. The basic idea is that you don't ever need name translations but can either transliterate the names as in-game Word Walls do with names like "Alik'r" and "Oblivion," or create phrases that refer to them like "Fahluaan do Jul" or "Drogsenir." |

If we make dovahzul titles for them, should we submit them? |

I'm potentially open to it since there are already some in the dictionary. The difficulty would be that anyone could invent any number of titles to refer to a specific Daedric Prince, which wouldn't be practical to list. Then it becomes a question of, if you do have titles in the dictionary, which do you list, or do you list only one per Prince and make everyone use that one title? That would almost be the same as just having name translations then. So...maybe. Thoughts? |
