Quote Translations

I would like a translation for these quotes: Keep your brother, and he'll keep you. Brave hearts beat lesser ones. Bring glory, in that glory will be returned upon you. Sometimes life puts you in difficult circumstances you didn't choose, but being happy or unhappy is a choice you make, and I've chosen to make the best of things that I can.Any warrior that gets to be old is either fearsome or a coward. July 22, 2017 		Suggestions with literal translations follow. Added nuances are supplied by an assumed context of war.

1. Spaan/Zin zeymah ful rok spaan/zin hi. "Shield/Honor the brother so that he shields/honors you." Choose the verb that better matches the content of 'keep'.

2. Krilot sil kron sahlo sil. "Courageous souls conquer weak souls" The metaphor of a heart 'beating' another does not transfer due to lack of direct lexical equivalent.

3. Wah ofaal moro, drun moro. "To gain glory, bring glory." The structure "in that" is ambiguous, this being its most likely interpretation.

4. Venselaas los tahrodiis, nuz hahdrimi los dii. "The wind-of-life is treacherous, but my mind is my own." Shortening and adapting heavily to established canon usage.

5. Naan kendov wo siiv ok wuth los zofaas/vahriin uv nivahriin. "Any warrior who finds his old-age is frightening/sworn or cowardly." Choose 'vahriin' for repetition-based wit: "sworn or unsworn". The phrase "siiv ok wuth" marks old age as a personal achievement on par with martial glory.
