word for slumber or sleep

im looking for a translation of sleep or slumber  in the noun sense that doesnt refer to death. to clarify with a sentence i would use it in.

the power within the dragonborn slumbered until it was time for it to awaken.

im thinking of slumber as a type of statis but not death.
