Possible new idea about the grammar of Dovahzul?Hello, Community! So real quick I wanted to suggest a new idea about the grammar of Dovahzul. It's come to my attention that there may be another rule that's been sneaking under our noses without our knowledge: Saying "<Noun> Of <Adjective or another Noun>" usually turns into "<Noun>Se<Noun or Adjective>". I believe this because of two reasons: 1. During the quest "Alduin's Bane", when Alduin confronts you before the fight, he will say a line with the word "Sillesejoor", which he himself translates into "Souls of the Mortal (Dead)". 2. During the quest "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller", The Greybeards speak to you, and somewhere in there they say "Atmorasewuth". Atmora is obviously a place, and Wuth translates (If I'm correct) into Old. But where did "se" come from? We've heard Nords say "Atmora of old" from time to time in-game, which leads me to believe that "Se" means "Of", and in turn that "Atmorasewuth" means that same thing as "Atmora of Old". One last thing: If this was already a rule I didn't know about then I'm sorry. I must not have seen it yet. Category: Grammar |
