spelling?

Hello. I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot but it seemed this was the closest to my question. I don't understand the spellings of certain words in dragon language. Like Liz, ice. Couldn't it be spelled Eis? Or Dovahkiin, couldn't it be spelled dragaanburn?

If you're familiar with Daedric, Daedric is simply an alphabet that you would spell English words in. The dragon language has its own alphabet, and more than that - it's an entirely different language with different words rather than being code for English words. So iiz is the dragon word for "ice," dovah is the dragon word for "dragon," thur is the dragon word for "overlord," etc. Some words certainly sound similar. But unlike Daedric, it's not English words spelled in a special way.

Daedric is an alphabet that you spell english words in with letter pronounciations the same as dovahzul correct? And Dovahzul itself is a completely different language that has its own letters, grammar, words, and more correct? Making sure I grasped what you said.

Daedric is only an alphabet so "spoken Daedric" would just be English. Correct on the rest though, Dovahzul has its own grammar, words, and pronunciations.
