Dragon names are usually composed of three monosyllabic rotmulaag, or Words of Power. Putting three one-syllable words together in any order can create a dragon's name Thu'um. (Click here for more info!) I'm going to try to come up with something that might work for the name Stephen. The name Stephen comes from the Greek Stephanos, meaning "crown." Crown is Du'ul in Dovahzul. Like most words with the u'u phenome, the vowel can be pronounced with either one or two syllables, so for the sake of simplicity we'll say the word Du'ul is monosyllabic, and use it as the first of our three rotmulaag. Crowns are often associated with kings, correct? The Dovahzul word for "king" is Jun. We'll use this as the second rotmulaag. Saint Stephen is regarded as the first Christian martyr. We could interpret this to mean that he was a hero. The Dovahzul word for "hero" is Hun. Using these three rotmulaag, we can create a possible translation for the name Stephen. One possibility is Hundu'uljun, "Hero Crown King." If you want, you can find other combinations of the available three words that might better suit you. Personally, I'm an advocate for creating dragon names that are more tailored to the individual's personality. Try looking through the Dictionary to find single-syllable words that fit you as a person, and put those together to create your dragon name! That's how I made my name! |
