"Ave legatus Tiberius Petronius Vulso! Nam verum imperium! Cyrodiil dominans super omnia! Ave Cyrodiilic imperii principatum!" The legion calls out, sounding their loyalty to their Legate and their ideals as they chant 'Ave Cyrodiilic Imperium' again and again, audible even over the din of battle.

The siege towers are close enough to the walls for explosive spells to destroy, but they are also in danger of soon deploying their load of forces, fifty soldiers in each siege tower. There are six towers. The testudos converse upon the main gate, a great battering ram with the head of Akatosh upon it being slowly rolled up to it. Boiling oil and fire would be useful against this siege engine. Ladders are also being placed on the walls, with light armored skirmishers with dual swords or a sword and various spells climbing up them, engaging the defenders in fierce combat. On average, the orcs win in single duals, but the Legion have numbers and over a decade of war experience on their side. The fighting is fierce, with neither side gaining an advantage, unless the heroes begin a slaughter of their own.

THe berserk charge is unexpected by the light skirmishers. They are quickly routed after another round of intense fighting, sliding back down the ladders, only for the siege towers to reach the walls, their load of soldiers marching forward in testudos, encircling Heavy Orcs to account for the equipment and size difference, more heavily armed legionnaires climb up the towers and ladders, the battering ram almost in range of the main gate. SMall groups of imperials are overwhelmed in equal-number conflicts, but when the Imperials have a numerical advantage, they simply march forward and encircle Orcs, stabbing them from all sides before marching to the next fight, only to sometimes be ambushed by more Orcs from behind. It is chaos everywhere, but the constant barrage of arrows and catapults are begining to take their toll. If the Orcish catapults do not return fire, the wall will be overrun.

Makor walks out with more heavy troops "You want Orsinium, you have to kill me!" Makor yells at the Imperials

As the fighting at the siege towers is quite the stagnant fight, with neither side defeating the other, the Imperials focus more forces on moving their battering ram faster. As it begins to beat on the door, an unusually large Imperial in bright blue officer's armor, as large as Makor, steps forward, shouting in Cyrodiilic at his men commands to push forward, before he looks up to Makor.

"Orsinium belongs to Legate Tiberius now, surrender, and serve us in our war against the Dominion!"

"NEVER, FOOLS YOU THINK AN ORC WILL BACK DOWN!" Makor goes into Berserker Rage as do the other soldiers "Shield Wall!" Makor replaced his greatsword with his axe and shield.

He sighs, shaking his head as he barks out a command.

"Testudo formare!"

They form a box, an offensive variant where only the second rank have their shields above their heads, but held at an angle. The rest provide extra force behind the first rank's charge. The gate is soon broken down, and the Imperials charge to Orcish Shield Wall with a mighty warcry.

He notices them, but, realizing he has no spears, he ignores them, other than ordering his flanks to form anti-cavalry squares as the main force collides with the Shield Wall.

The Centurion sees a few of his men drop from the arrows, but the Testudo formation protects them from arrows for the most part, with only a lucky few arrows slipping in through the gaps and hitting the soldiers underneath.

(( If you have any doubts as to the effectiveness on these tactics and others, just do some quick research on the Roman's military tactics, and how they were so effective as to be possibly the main reason why the Roman civilization lasted over a thousand years. Compared to the Mongolian Empire who, while defenitely effective in their cavalry blitzkreig tactics, only lasted for about a century. ))

(( Oh, and the similiaries between the Empire of Cyrodiil, no matter what game, novel, etc., and the Roman civilization are quite obvious if you know even the tiniest pieces of information on Romans. ))

'hmmm let the boulders fall ' boulders fall down on the imperials

The smaller rocks are held off rather easily, but the larger boulders begin to crush them. An order is called out in Cyrodiilic (( Basically Latin )), and the force dashes forward, throwing pilums ((Roman throwing spears, look it up in images for a visual)) just before they hit the enemy shield wall, knocking down a few Orcs with the thrown projectiles, before the hit the enemy wall with the force of a tidal wave. They fight as a cohesive unit, a single body of shields, soldiers further back raising their shields above their heads while the front line reach their swords around their shields to stab at the defending force. When a soldier falls, another immediately takes his place, joining his shield with the Imperial wall.
