The key components of the online IELTS speaking test include:

Introduction and Interview: The online IELTS speaking test begins with the examiner introducing themselves and verifying the candidate’s identity. The candidate is then asked to provide basic personal information and answer general questions about familiar topics such as home, work, studies, and interests.

Individual Long Turn: In this part, the candidate is given a task card with a particular topic. They have one minute to prepare and can make notes if they wish. The candidate then speaks on the topic for one to two minutes without interruption. The examiner may ask one or two follow-up questions after the speech.

Two-Way Discussion: The final component involves a more in-depth discussion on the topic introduced in Part 2. The examiner asks further questions to explore the topic in greater depth, allowing the candidate to demonstrate their ability to express and justify opinions, analyze, discuss, and speculate on issues.

Throughout the online IELTS speaking test, the candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in English is assessed based on four criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation.
